This is the lodge that we stayed in at Kokchurong. Kokchurong literally means "near a river", keeping in line with the Nepali penchant for naming places and things according to their essence.
The inside of the lodge was really big, spacious and airy. Quite a good night's sleep. it was also here that i dreamed of my cousin's unborn son, who was born 3 days later in Singapore. Congrats! In the dream he bit my shoulder, that fiesty bastard, and i flipped him over. looks like we got off to a good start.
Lunch at Phethang before we continued on towards Tshoka. potatos and tibetan bread. carbos and more carbos, just like God intended for fueling our bodies. No Atkins diet here.
In my Singaporean mind, bird watching entailed standing in a plain looking up at the surrounding trees for birds of colour. In Nepali terms, bird watching means bashing through thick undergrowth in a dense rainforest infested with sandflies in search of the elusive Red Panda. which is not even a bird.

Quite a cool shot of Tshoka at dusk.

A friendly horse who came up to Elgin, then proceeded to scratch itself like a dog. I have never seen a horse use its hind hooves to scratch its head until then.

Our room at Tshoka. quite comfortable, but we brought back a lot of sandflies with us and it was an iffy night.

One of the porters found a wild mushroom. We decided to pass on eating it.

The trail to Yuksom. It rained quite heavily and the stones were wet and slippery. You needed shunpo (flash steps) to go down quickly and safely.

Our lunch at a bridge just before we entered Yuksom. We saw first hand how food was prepared. Quite impressive considering the limited conditions. Elgin has a video of the cook cooking.

How could you "bully" the little one. Thank goodness it's just a dream.
